As part of sustainable design course, we were asked by Japanese company Zebra to come up with ideas for a ballpoint pen to add to their already vast offering. My proposal was simple - a pen built to last. Rather than making another disposable piece of plastic, I suggested crafting a more valuable item - one that it's owner would never wish to lose. Machined from a single aluminum rod for durability and good hand feel, every pen would be marked by its maker with a unique serial number.
